OPERATION KID COMFORT

Comforting a sad child who misses a parent is never an easy task,
but Operation Kid Comfort is a program designed to help soothe and
comfort a child through the difficult time when a parent is deployed.

Operation Kid Comfort is a program designed to serve children who
have an active-duty parent deployed overseas. Photos of the deployed
service member, along with the child and family, are photo-transferred
onto quilts. The quilt is then used by the child for play, sleep, or just
to carry around and hold.

Volunteers are needed to fill numerous tasks:

1) Assemble materials for take-home kits.
2) Sew quilts.
3) Teach others to sew quilts.
4) Donate sewing machines, fabrics, quilting notions, iron, ironing board.

The Armed Services YMCA Endowment Program, known as the 21st Century Fund, was established in 1986 as a means to assure continued ASYMCA service to local junior-enlisted personnel. The fund is an opportunity to become a lasting part of the rich Armed Services YMCA tradition in San Diego.

The corpus of the fund remains intact while annual earnings contribute to current, special, or capital needs as deemed appropriate by the Board of Management. The San Diego Community Foundation is the chosen administrator for the fund.

The ways to give to endowment are as diverse as your circumstances. Endowment gifts bring personal satisfaction in knowing that financial support is being provided forever for a cause that matters. Many gifts also result in tax savings and increased income flow. Some of the possibilities for contributing are: outright gifts, bequests, remainder trusts, a life insurance policy with the Armed Services YMCA as a beneficiary, stocks, bonds, charitable remainder trusts, and real property. These are only a few suggestions. For the option best for you, it is recommended that you seek the counsel of your attorney.

To enable the San Diego Armed Services YMCA to positively impact our military in perpetuity,
contact Paul Steffens, Executive Director, at 858-751-5755 for more information.

Donate a Car, Truck, Van, or RV to benefit the
Armed Services YMCA, and receive maximum
legal tax deductions & possibly a partial cash
payment! Call toll free: (866)244-8464.

Be sure to designate the
